Commission might get extension of deadline Commission might get extension of deadline

Mangalore, April 1: The state government is trying to decide whether to extend the deadline given to Justice Somashekara Commission of Inquiry for submission of its final report by two more months. According to the old deadline, the commission had to submit its final report on March 31, Wednesday.

The commission was appointed to investigate the attack on churches in Karnataka in September 2008. The government gave it one year to complete its investigation. Accordingly, the commission had to submit its final report on Nov 19, 2009. The government had already once extended the deadline by three and a half months as the inquiry commission still had a lot of investigation to do.

Since the inquiry commission has still not completed its investigation, the government is trying to decide whether to extend the deadline further by 2 months.
