3 Carmelite deacons receive Holy Orders

Mangalore, Apr 20: Three Carmelite deacons received the Holy Orders recently. Rev Bernard Moras, the archbishop of Bangalore, ordained Deacon Joseph Pinto in Tumkur on April 18, Sunday. Rev Aloysius Paul D’Souza, the bishop of Mangalore, ordained Deacons Anil Prakash Tauro and Vinod Lobo at Infant Jesus Shrine, Mangalore on April 19, Monday. Sixty priests concelebrated at the Eucharistic celebration. 

Fr Joseph Pinto, one of the newly ordained priests, is from Tumkur. He worked as a headmaster in the primary school for several years before deciding to join the Carmelite Order. Fr. Prakash hails from Kulshekar Parish and Fr. Vinod Lobo is from Belthangady parish. 

The ordination ceremony lasted for nearly 2 hours and was followed by a short felicitation programme. The newly ordained priests were honored by Rev Fr. Archibald Gonsalves, the provincial superior of the Carmelite Order.
