DC announces new parking system in Mangalore city

Mangalore, April 20: V Ponnuraj, the Deputy Commissioner of Dakshina Kannada district has informed in a press meet about the introduction of paid parking system in the city.


DC Ponnuraj’s notification came after witnessing the number of vehicles on roads, making frequent traffic blocks. The present changes have been made as per the suggestions of traffic circle inspector of Mangalore city.


According to new parking changes parking is prohibited on the left side of the road from Balmatta Circle to the Christian Institute (Karnataka Theological College), the right side of the Balmatta Road to Ambedkar Circle and Lord Krishna Bank, the left side of the stretch between Milagres Mansion and Hampankatta Circle and both sides of Light House Hill Road between Alukkas Jewellers and Tagore Park.


Paid parking areas are as follows:
Road starting from Christian Institute entrance to  Atri Book Centre on Balmatta Road (for four-wheelers).


Road between Atri Book Centre and Prabhath Automobiles (for two-wheelers), Emjayas Complex to Wine Gate on Balmatta Road (for four-wheelers), Road between Skyline Arcade and Don Bosco Hall on Balmatta Road (for two-wheelers).

The other paid parking places are road between Liquid Lounge and Hotel Soorya (for two-wheelers), front of Khajana Jewellery on Balmatta Road (for two-wheelers), between A.B. Shetty Circle and Football Ground gate (near Town Hall) on U.P. Mallya Road (for both two-wheelers and four-wheelers), and between Karavali Utsav Ground and Lady Hill Circle on Lady Hill-Lalbagh Road (for both two-wheelers and four-wheelers).
