Mangalore, April 21: The sleuths of the City Crime Branch (CCB) have taken 5 suspects into custody in Hubli with regard to the M Chinnaswamy Stadium blasts in Bangalore. A former Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP) employee is suspected to have masterminded the blasts, in which 17 people were injured.
The CCB began investigating a suspicious character, who was travelling by train without a ticket from Bangalore to Gaziabad. The police arrested the man in Belgaum and questioned him. Later, he was brought to Hubli, and as per the information provided by him, four more suspects were nabbed in Hubli. The suspects had booked two rooms at Sriram Residency at Hosur Cross under the names of M Irfan and Sunil Rao on Sunday and Tuesday. A senior police officer in Hubli played a laudable role in arresting these suspects.
One of the suspects is physically challenged. Some of them had associations at Uttar Pradesh. The police will be questioning the management of the hotel too.
The suspects might be brought to Bangalore soon. The police have decided to re-examine video footages and investigate the Hubli link to the Bangalore blasts. Police are also investigating the links between the Indian Mujahideen and the former KSRP employee, who hails from Bhatkal in Mangalore.
