CDA Chairman Nagaraj Shetty promises personal help

Mangalore, April 25: The Buntara Sangha of Kuwait organized a meeting to felicitate Mr. Nagaraj Shetty, the chairman of the Coastal Development Authority (CDA), on April 24 at Avanti Palace Restaurant. President Karunakara Shetty and other office bearers of the Buntara Sangha extended a warm welcome to the former minister. The representatives of various associations of Mangalore were present. 


Pushparaj, the joint secretary, made the welcome speech and introduced Mr. Nagaraj Shetty to the gathering. In his speech, Mr. Nagaraj Shetty lauded the achievements of Indians in Gulf countries and their contributions to Indian society. He also spoke about the great work done by the government of Karnataka to develop coastal districts. 


In response to a query regarding the inauguration of the new Mangalore Airport International Terminal, he said that, although the terminal is ready, it cannot be launched for use owing to a technical fault in the newly constructed approach road. Plans are afoot to construct a new four-lane road, he said, adding that the work will be completed in 3 months and the new international terminal will be inaugurated immediately. 


Mr. Nagaraj Shetty urged the NRIs of the coastal districts to utilize government facilities to invest and develop the area. He promised that he would personally help anyone who faced problems in getting work done since he personally knew government officials and ministers. He said that he would always be available to listen to problems and provide solutions.  


Mrs. and Mr. Rajesh Shetty presented a memento to Mr. Nagaraj Shetty. Mr. Pushparaj expressed gratitude. The formal programme was followed by a delicious lunch.
