Groups clash near Ullal Dargah

Ullal, April 25: A clash between two groups, resulting in stone pelting, created a tense atmosphere around Sayyid Madani Dargah in Ullal in the late hours of the night on April 24, Saturday. Allegedly, this is the work of anti social elements, who intend to destroy the peaceful atmosphere in the town. 

Thousands of people had crowded at the venue for the last meal distribution programme, which was held as part of the Uroos. Eye witnesses state that two groups, including some young people of Mogavira Pattana, began quarreling outside Paris Hotel near the Dargah. 

The police had to use lathi charge to disperse the mobs. A few miscreants also threw stones at the police. 

Local MLA U T Khader, President of the Dargah UK Monu, and the local deputy superintendent of police visited the venue and requested the people to maintain peace and order.
