NASVI campaigns for national policy

Mangalore, Apr 30: The National Association of Street Vendors of India (NASVI), a federation of trade unions, organized a campaign “World Class Cities for All” in front of the DC office on April 30, Friday, demanding the immediate implementation of national policy on urban street vendors.

Hamza Bengre said that people who want live a respectable life and earn their own living are discouraged. Alleging that government officials and the district administration are trying to destroy the life of the poor vendors, he added that the vendors are asked to go and find some other job instead of working on the footpath. 

Yadav Shetty, member of the Raitha Sangha, urged the government to constitute town vending committees and ward vending committees in all corporations and municipalities of Karnataka. He also urged the corporation not to conduct illegal raids and impose unreasonable fines on street vendors.
