Police nab eight culprits in connection with murder of a petty thief

Mangalore, May 1: Barke police have arrested eight culprits in connection with murdering a local thief John Pinto on April 29.  The arrest were made on April 30.


Barke police said that, Barke Charan, Vikram, Rajesh, Avinash, Sushanth, Mahendra. Deekshith and Shreyas are the eight persons in police custody now. They have been arrested on charges of beating and murdering a petty thief John Pinto, who had involved in many cases like theft and robbery. He was found to have been murdered near Mannagudda early morning on April 29. He was taken to hospital by the police personnel attached to Barke, after receiving information from  a local, who saw him lying on the ground. He was succumbed to his injuries in the hospital.


Before slipping to unconsciousness, deceased had revealed name of the assaulters, who allegedly attacked on him by using wooden sticks and iron roads.


Off and on theft at Mannagudda area had annoyed some of youths staying here. They have, purposefully, formed a group to catch the thief. After finding John pinto loitering near Mannagudda, culprits, who are in police custody now, caught him and thrashed him with wooden sticks, injuring him badly.
A police team led by sub-inspector Shivaprakash made these arrests. All the arrested are locals working as electrician, labour and welder etc.
