NIT-K to break record by awarding 50 PhDs

Mangalore, May 5: The 7th convocation of National Institute of Technology - Karnataka (NIT-K) Suratkal will be held today on its campus at Shrinivasnagar. Director Sandeep Sancheti said that the institution will award 50 PhDs, which is a record breaker in the history of NIT throughout the country. Governor H. R. Bharadwaj will be the chief guest.


NIT-K had decided during its golden jubilee celebration that it will guide 50 students toward a successful completion of their PhDs. Prof Sancheti said that the institution has achieved its goal. Last year, the institution awarded PhDs to 30 students. 


Prof Sancheti also said that the NIT-K will award 875 degrees. The toppers and achievers will receive gold medals too.
