GP election: DC issues prohibitory orders all over district from May 10

Mangalore, May 7: Keeping in view of untoward activities taking place during grama Panchayat elections, which are scheduled to be held on May 12, V Ponnuraj, deputy commissioner of Dakshina Kannada district has issued prohibitory orders all over the district.

He said that, in order to curb any untoward activities during the election time, a prohibitory order has been issued under section 144. The prohibitory order has been imposed all over the district from 5 pm on May 10 to 5pm on May 12.

Conducting any public meetings, procession also prohibited during the election time. But there is no restriction for organizing programmes related to government and religious functions, he added.
