Gulf Voice of Mangalore logo launched

Mangalore, May 9: The logo of “Gulf Voice of Mangalore,” a Konkani musical event, was released in the city by Rohan Monteiro of Property Estate and Developers.

The logo illustrates the city of Mangalore complete with palm trees and the Gulf with its sands and camels. The golden mike in the logo symbolizes the “Gulf Voice of Mangalore,” a popular event that sources talented Konkani-speaking Catholic singers in the Gulf countries. 

Valerian Peris, the chief coordinator of Gulf Voice of Mangalore, revealed the names of the judges who will judge the final event on Oct 22, 2010. The jury comprises leading Konkani musicians such as Joel Pereira, Konkani Kalashree Claude D’Souza, and professional singer Reena D’Souza. The event will be conducted by Leslie Rego. The organizers are Mangalore Konkans, Dubai. 

All singers belonging to the Konkani-speaking Catholic community residing in gulf countries are eligible to participate in this event. Winners will receive a cash award of Rs 1 lakh, and runners up will receive Rs 50,000 plus the trophy. The participants can choose only songs released in the form of albums. 

James Mendonca, Lenus Moras, Lawrence Pinto, Walter Nandalike, Rohan Monteiro, Claude D’Souza, Joel Periera, and Leslie Rego were present for the press conference.
