Mangalore, May 10: The Karnataka State Tulu Academy organized a Kadala Parbha at Panambur Beach on Sunday. President of the Hind Mazdoor Sabha Mr. Sureshchandra Shetty, who is also a prominent Tuluva leader, inaugurated the festival by releasing a couple of pigeons into the air.

The purpose of the event was to attract youth to Tulu culture and language. The event comprised music, food, and dance.

Mr. Shetty said that the youth of today are immersed in studies, sports, TV, and Internet. Bringing them back to social life is very difficult. Society must create occasions for young people to come out into the open and enjoy life; otherwise, they will become introverts, he said.

Mayor Rajani Dugganna offered pooja to the sea god and prayed for the safety of all those who were about to participate in the Kadala Parbha. She said that Tulu culture, which comprises music, sports, and folk, is the greatest in the world and must be preserved.

Interesting games such as sand sculpturing, Hagga Jaggata, swimming, beach volley ball, beach Kabbaddi, and other games were organized for the youth. The evening was marked by an orchestra of Tulu songs.

Mr. Yathish Baikampady, the CEO of the Panambur Beach Tourism Development Project, said that 40,000 people participated in this colorful event.
