Section 144 during GP vote counting process

Mangalore, May 15: The district administration has clamped prohibitory orders in a bid to maintain peace and order during the counting process of the GP polls and during the announcements of results. 


The Information Department issued a press release, which states that, in a bid to curb untoward incidents during the counting of votes and to prevent quarrels among the supporters of various candidates, the district administration has decided to clamp prohibitory orders under Section 144 from 6 a.m. on May 17 and 18. 


Successful candidates are not permitted to organize victory celebrations, victory processions, or any other public programmes when Section 144 is on. 


The counting will be done on May 17; and the results will be announced on the evening of the same day.
