Mangalore Today News Network

Mangalore, May 27: Linge Gowda and Gopala Gowda, two engineers of Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) were found fighting in public over a trivial issue. The argument, which originated in the office premises, was carried out into the car park of the MCC, located by the city’s main road.

The heated argument continued for nearly 30 minutes while a large number of spectators stood around the duo, watching the fun. However, the argument soon turned violent when Linge Gowda hit Gopala Gowda and Gopala Gowda responded by returning the blow. The physical fight should have stopped when Mr. Gopala Gowda collapsed; but Linge Gowda did not want to go home that early. He tried to hit Gopala Gowda again; but Shivaraj, one of the onlookers, tried to restrain him. An enraged Linge Gowda hit Shivaraj and sent him sprawling to the ground as a result of which Shivaraj is now recovering in hospital.

Other onlookers who had tried to establish peace also received blows in return. Although it is a clear case of disturbing public peace, the police have not yet registered a case against the two. However, Mr. Gopal Gowda as well as Mr. Shivaraj has lodged a complaint against Mr. Linge Gowda at the police station.

Mayor Rajani Dugganna and Commissioner Vijayaprakash say that they do not know anything about the fight or the cause for it.
