Mangalore, June 02: Mohammed Usman, a fortunate plane crash survivor, was discharged from Unity Hospital on June 1, Tuesday. Dr. C. P. Habib Rehman, the managing director of Unity Hospital, wished him well in the present of Dr. Ashfaq Mahammed, Dr. Mahabalesh Shetty, Dr. Sachchidananda Rai, Dr. Sanjay Shahari, and Usman’s friends and family members.
Usman, who hails from Karkala, secured a house in Mangalore for the education of his children Rashid, Saud, Minhas, and Saif. He said that he jumped out of the ill-fated aircraft after it broke into two pieces and noticed that two of his fellow passengers had also done the same. He also said that he believed that everybody had survived the crash till he was discharged from the hospital.
Relating the story of how he escaped from the burning aircraft, he said that, after escaping from the aircraft, he contacted his wife by using a mobile phone belonging to a local person. His wife contacted a taxi driver, who informed Unity Hospital before picking Usman and taking him to the hospital at around 6:40 a.m.
Usman said that the AI officials had helped him to secure all the required travel documents such as passport, visa, and others, which he had lost in the air crash. The doctor has advised him to take rest for 2 months.
Usman has been working in Dubai for the past 29 years. He worked for a couple of firms before joining DCFC Shipping, Forwarding, and Transporting Company of Dubai 19 years ago.
