Mangalore, June 03: Union Minister of State for Railways, who is supervising the provision of compensation for the victims of the Air India Express IX-812 as deputed by PM Manmohan Singh, said that the centre has received no proposal for the construction of a memorial for the 158 victims of the Mangalore plane crash of May 22. He informed journalists that the centre had not decided to construct a memorial for the plane crash victims.

He also said that the process of giving away compensation to the victims might continue for a few more days, adding that Air India and the district administration have been instructed to issue death certificates for all the plane crash victims.

During his earlier visit, the minister had said that Air India will set up a single window system to help the victims’ families to claim compensation and receive death certificates. The single window system is working in harmony with the police as well as the revenue department, said the minister.
