6th Kannada Literary and Cultural Conference held in City

Mangalore, June 5:  The fortnightly “Suma Sourabha” and Rangha Samaja Cultural Institution jointly organized the 6th Kannada Literary and Cultural Conference at Town Hall on June 5, Saturday.

M. B. Puranik, the convener of Sharada Maha Vidyalaya, inaugurated the event and said that Harikrishna Punaroor had made some spectacular contributions to the world of Kannada literature during his term as the president of the Karnataka Kannada Sahitya Parishad. 

Harikrishna Punaroor, who presided over the function, called upon Kannadigas to protect and preserve Kannada language and culture and work hard for its welfare. He urged people to love the Kannada language although they admit their children to English medium schools. 

Mayor of Mangalore Rajani Dugganna released the souvenir “Sahitya Sinchana.” Achievers such as artist Damodar Shenoy and journalist Ashok Shetty were felicitated on this occasion. Editor of “Suma Sourabha” M. J. Rao made the welcome speech. 

President of Nehru Yuva Kendra Bangalore Narayana Gowda, President of Gokarnanatha Cooperative Bank Shivananda Karkera; Ramesh Krishna; Preethi Narayana; Manjunath S. Revnkar; and many other prominent personalities participated in this event.
