Mangalore, June 5: Several people diagnosed with fever have been getting admitted into local hospitals in Puttur and Belthangady. Lab tests reveal that many of them suffer from dengue.
Eighteen people, suspected to be suffering from dengue, are being treated in several hospitals in Puttur. Three of them have already been tested dengue positive. The disease appears to have spread in Nellyadi, Kadaba, Shiradi, Kaukrady, and the neighboring villages. In Totattady, two people have been diagnosed as suffering from dengue.
Dr. Jagannath, the health officer of DK, confirmed that 139 people were treated for fever in Kadaba and its neighboring regions from May 30 - June 3. Spot inspections revealed that 45 out of 122 out patients suffered from cold and fever. Thirty-six of those who took blood tests tested negative for malaria.
