Yakshagana artiste Peruvai Narayana Shetty felicitated

Mangalore, June 14: Peruvai Narayana Shetty, the renowned Yakshagana artiste, was felicitated on Sunday in Town Hall during the Karnoor Koragappa Rai Samsmarane, a memorial meeting held in honor of Mr. Koragappa Rai. 


District-in-charge Minister Krishna J. Palemar honored Mr. Shetty. Listing out the glories of Yakshagana, Palemar said that the talents of several artistes, such as Koragappa Rai, have enriched the folk art of Yakshagana. He introduced Mr. Rai as a great benefactor of Karnataka’s Yakshagana artistes. Every year, a senior Yakshagana artiste was honoured in his memory, said Palemar adding that Mr. Shetty is indeed worthy of the award instituted in Mr. Karnoor Koragappa Rai’s name. 


Mr. Kumble Sundar Rao, the chairman of the State Yakshagana Academy, gave an oration on the life and works of Mr. Koragappa Rai and felicitated Mr. Shetty. Mr. Sadananda Shetty, the president of the Karnoor Koragappa Rai Samsmarane Committee, was also present. 


Mr. Narayana Shetty said that he feels greatly honored by this award and considers himself as very lucky.
