Mangalore, Dec 14: A large tree fell across the road in Cascia, near Morgans Gate, on Dec 14, Monday. Fortunately, a person who was close by was only slightly injured.
The tree was in the premises of St Rita’s Church. The pedestrian who escaped unhurt heard the sound of cracking wood in time and managed to escape with minor injuries. He is now taking treatment in a hospital.
The tree, however, created a traffic block and damaged several electricity lines. Since the vehicles took an alternate route, the block did not last for a long time. The Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) and Mescom were alerted immediately.
Local people say that the road, which was otherwise very busy, was strangely empty when the tree fell.
