NCC national-level trekking camp commences

Karwar, Dec 26: District Commissioner N S Chennappagowda inaugurated “Ocean to Sky,” a national-level trekking camp of NCC, in Sagara Darshana Hall on Dec 24, Thursday. 

In his inaugural speech, he said that if students participate in the NCC, they can easily get a job. They can even register in the Army, Navy, and Air Force without having to write any exam. He also said that the NCC is the best place to learn discipline in life. 

Group Commander J S Ravat and Officers A K Mathur, K S Gil, D S Paramar, and Mahesh Dolli were also present. 

About 1000 cadets from all over India will participate in this 14-day annual camp. These participants are divided into 8 teams of 125 members each; and a day each is allotted to each group to begin their trek. The 93-kilometer trek will be organized in the Gunta Western of Kali canal. 

The main camp will be at Sagara Darshan Hall. Each team will commence its trek after a 2-day stay there. During the trek, the teams will halt at sub camps set up in Bhaire, Kadra, Hanakona, Keravadi, and Siddara. They will return to their main camp after the trek. The participants will interact with the villagers and learn about their culture, religion, history, and festivals.
