100th birth anniversary of Barrister Yellappa observed

Mangalore, May 4, 2012: The 100th birth anniversary of Barrister Attavar Yellappa, the freedom fighter who was closely associated with Nethaji Subhashchandra Bose, was held at DK Higher Primary School in Attavar on May 4 Friday. 

Ratheendranath, the honorary president of the school development committee, said on the occasion that not many people are aware of the sacrifices Barrister Attavar Yellappa made for the country. Stating that nothing about the life of Barrister Yellappa is being taught to school children, he said that efforts must be made to include a chapter about him in school text books. 

The portrait of the late freedom fighter was unveiled on this occasion. Pictures of freedom fighters by Guru Dronacharya of Harihar were also displayed.
