Former TP president Khalid Yusuf dies in road accident

Mangalore, May 27, 2012: Khalid Yusuf (70), former president of the Mangalore Taluk Panchayat, died in a road accident on May 26, Saturday.

He was riding home from the Adyar Gram Panchayat office on his Honda Activa. At Adyarkatte, he stopped by the side of the highway to allow a tanker pass, and when he was getting back on the road, a Maruti Swift car rammed into his Activa from behind, throwing him onto the road. Mr. Yusuf sustained severe head injuries and died.

His relative Ahmed Iqbal lodged a complaint at the rural police station, and accordingly, the Kankanady rural police registered a case.

Khalid Yusuf was the president of the Mangalore Taluk Panchayat in 1995. He was a taluk panchayat member for 3 terms and was the president of the Kannur Jumma Masjid for 26 years.
