DK district administration sets up 34 polling booths

Mangalore, June 8, 2012 : N. S. Channappa Gowda, the DC of Dakshina Kannada, said that the district administration will arrange 34 polling booths for the biennial election to the South-west Graduates and Teachers Constituencies, scheduled to be held on Sunday.

Stating that the highest number of voters for each constituency is in Mangalore, the DC said that a total of 11,859 voters will cast their votes in 20 polling booths for the South-west Graduates Constituency and 4,902 voters will vote in 14 polling booths for the South-west Teachers’ Constituency.

He further said that 12 of the 20 South-west Graduates Constituency polling booths are in Mangalore and 2 each are in Belthangady, Bantwal, Puttur, and Sullia. Nine of the 14 South-west Teachers’ Constituency polling booths are in Mangalore, 2 are in Sullia and one each is in Belthangady, Bantwal, and Puttur.

The DC said that counting will begin at 8:00 a.m. on June 14. The polling will be done on Sunday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. According to the directives of the Election Commission, the district administration has appointed teams of officers to enforce the moral code of conduct. If the public finds anybody violating this code of conduct, they can complain to the teams of officials.

The mustering centre for all the five taluks is the DC’s office, he added.
