Mangalore, June 8, 2012 : Addressing reporters after a legislative council election campaign on June 7, Thursday, Oscar Fernandes, chief secretary of the All India Congress Committee (AICC), said that Siddaramaiah’s resignation is a “closed chapter.”
Stating that Siddaramaiah still belongs to the Congress as he has not quit the party, he said that Siddaramaiah has only resigned from the post of opposition leader. However, Sonia Gandhi discussed the issue with Siddaramaiah, after which it has been considered as a “closed chapter.”
Speaking about the Congress’ contributions to eradicate illiteracy, he said that the party has initiated a number of schemes to make sure that all children in India get equal educational opportunities. He urged the public to vote in favor of Congress candidates S. P. Dinesh and Hosur Ramesh Jogappa.
Mayor Gulzar Banu, Oscar Fernandes’ wife Blossom Fernandes, and Congress leaders P. V. Mohan, Ivan D’Souza, M. A. Gafoor, Suresh Shetty, T. K. Sudhir, Radhakrishna, and many others took part in the election campaign.
