Mangalore, June 26, 2012 : The Campus Front of India (CFI) organized a protest in front of the DC’s office on Monday against the BJP leaders who expressed their support of “saffronization of education.”

The protestors shouted slogans against K. S. Eshwarappa, president of the state unit of the BJP; Vishweshwara Hegde Kageri, state education minister; and Nalin Kumar Kateel, MP for Mangalore, who stated in public that education in India must be saffronized.

CFI State Committee Member Abu Sinan said in his protest address that Eshwarappa’s comments are anti constitutional. He accused the state government of attempting to communalize the education system.

He also condemned Kageri for expressing his support of Eshwarappa’s statement and suggesting that saffronization is essential to protect culture. He said that the people of Karnataka know what culture the BJP wants to protect as it is up to its neck in scams and scandals. He demanded to know what sort of culture the BJP can teach school children.

The protestors then burned banners bearing pictures of Eshwarappa and Kateel, who recently stated in public that schools must be saffronized to protect Indian culture. The protestors also warned BJP leaders that they will intensify their protests if they do not take back their words immediately.
