Muslim boy thrashed for being with Hindu girl

Mangalore, June 26, 2012 : The members of a pro-Hindu outfit allegedly thrashed a Muslim boy for being with a Hindu girl late on Sunday night.

A group of men, allegedly belonging to a pro-Hindu outfit, followed the couple to a deserted spot at around 8:00 p.m., where they assaulted the Muslim boy.

The Mangalore South Police have arrested four people in connection with the case. The arrested are Purushottam, Nishith, Sandip Shetty, and Naveen Shetty, all from Jeppu. The four were released on bail later than evening.

Seemanth Kumar Singh, the Mangalore police commissioner, said that the police took suo moto action against the four, as neither the boy nor the girl had lodged a complaint.
