Adopt-A-Tree Campaign from CIL

Mangalore, June 27, 2012: Centre for Integrated Learning ( CIL), a non profit organization working in the field of education in association with Big FM and Lions Club of Mangalore will be launching a unique campaign called ‘Adopt A Tree’ on 30 June at Bal Bhavan, Kadri in the city.

The concept of ‘Adopt A Tree’ is to make the citizens aware of the damage caused to the environment and reimburse the same by adopting a sapling and assuring its full fledged growth. Thus we intent to contribute to protecting and conserving our ecology for a better tomorrow.

‘Adopt a Tree is a unique and first of its kind programme in Mangalore, where each child will be given a tree to take care of, they will have to record the growth of the tree over a period of one year in a scrap book given to them. As many as 100  students will participate in this programme. `This is an attempt to instill responsibility among the students towards their environment’ stated Sachitha Nandagopal, Executive Director of CIL, in a press release.

In the present day where more efforts are made to improve technological innovations less amount of time is spent on saving our natural resources for the betterment of our society, `Adopt a Tree’ is one such programme to spread  awareness among the people living in the society.

Commissioner of Police, Mangalore City, Seemanth Kumar Singh will distribute the saplings and the scrapbook on the occasion. Lions Club Mangalore President Dr. Arvind Rao Kedige will be the guest of honour.

Apart from the individual volunteers who will plant and monitor the saplings, four schools have been selected where 25 saplings will be distributed along with the scrapbook and each of the the students looks after a sapling. The initiative was launched at Infant Jesus Joyland School at Bolar recently.
