BJP Yuva Morcha launches tree planting campaign

Mangalore, July 2, 2012 : BJP Yuva Morcha observed vanamahotsava at Nandigudda Circle on the morning of July 1, Sunday and also inaugurated its Tree Planting Campaign on this occasion.

Raghavendra Rao, president of the BJP Yuva Morcha, said that people need trees right from the time of birth to the time of death, but are least bothered about their welfare. Stating that trees play an important role in controlling soil erosion and global warming, he said that people hardly realize the importance of trees, owing to which the BJP Yuva Morcha is organizing a Tree Planting Campaign.

Speaking about the campaign, he said that it will be held in 38 wards of the Mangalore City Corporation (MCC), during which BJP workers will educate people about advantages and disadvantages of different types of trees. As part of the campaign, BJP workers will plant saplings and take care of them till they grow into trees.

Padmanabha Kottari, president of the district unit of the BJP, inaugurated the campaign by planting a sapling and said that the BJP is planning to celebrate the birthdays of eminent personalities such as Deen Dayal Upadhyaya and Shyam Prasad Mukherjee by planting saplings on the roadsides and in school campuses.

Several BJP leaders and workers were present on this occasion.
