Mangalore, july 5, 2012 : The political science department of St. Agnes College (autonomous) of Mangalore will organize a one-day seminar on “Sixty Years of Karnataka Legislative Assembly” on July 7, Saturday.
D. H. Shankar Moorthy, chairman of the Karnataka Legislative Council will inaugurate the seminar. Suresh Kumar, minister for parliamentary affairs, law, and urban development, will deliver the keynote address. Dr. M. Prem D’Souza, principal of St. Agnes College, will preside.
The college will honor all the women MLAs of undivided Dakshina Kannada along with MLA U. T. Khader, who has recently bagged an award.
MLC Kota Shrinivasa Poojary will speak on “Vidhana Sabha – the Temple of Democracy.” This will be followed by a panel discussion on people’s expectations of the Vidhana Sabha.
In the afternoon, Mr. V. R. Sudarshan, former chairman of the legislative council of Karnataka, will speak on the topic “Outstanding Parliamentarians of Karnataka Vidhana Sabha.”
