According to Club Coordinator Arun Shiri, the Mangalore chapter of the club has several members who wouldn’t part with their Yezdi and Jawa bikes for anything in the world. They had either received these bikes from their fathers or own such a bike simply because of their interest.
Stating that the second Saturday of every July is celebrated as International Jawa Day, he said that this year, the day comes on July 8. The day is celebrated in Mangalore too, with around 30 Jawa bike enthusiasts coming together to talk about their bikes and showcase them.
Speaking about these bikes, he said that, although Jawa and Yezdi motorcycles are no longer manufactured, it is not difficult to get spare parts as some companies still create duplicate parts. However, these parts cost a lot of money, he added.
Around 30 Yezdi and Jawa owners will arrive at Shanthi Nilaya Ground in Balmatta at 4:45 p.m. The rally will begin at Balmatta and will pass Kankanady, Falnir, Hampankatta, KS Rao Road, Navbharat Circle, PVS Junction, MG Road, Lalbhagh, Bejai, Circuit House, Kadri Park Road, Kadri, and Bendoor, after which it will come back to Balmatta, he said.
