Mangalore, July 13, 2012: Dr Satheesh Kumar Bhandary B has been appointed principal of KS Hegde Medical Academy (KSHEMA), Derlakatte, Mangalore from July 11.
Dr Satheesh completed his primary and high school education in Ira and Kurnad and studied in St Aloysius PU College. After obtaining an MBBS from Mysore Medical College he obtained the MS degree in ENT from KMC, Mangalore and JJM Medical College, Davangere.
He gained experience as a lecturer in KMC, Mangalore for ten years after which he joined KS Medical Hegde Academy in 1998 as head of department of ENT. He has been serving KS Hegde Medical Academy as the vice-principal for last five years. Dr Satheesh served as the president of Mangalore chapter as well as the Karnataka State ENT Association. In addition he has also served as the president of the IMA, Mangalore chapter.
He has guided more than 25 PG and PhD students. He has special interest in conducting workshops for ENT surgeons and has been organizing such workshops for Indian as well as foreign students in KSHEMA from 12 years. He has received special training in endoscopic sinus surgery from abroad. He has received special grant from BRNS, Government of India to conduct research in treating cancer from extracts of fruits and herbs.
