Barke police bust counterfeit money racket, arrest two

Mangalore, July 27, 2012 : The Barke police on July 26, Thursday arrested two people on charges of being involved in a fake money racket.

The accused are from West Bengal and were arrested at a commercial complex in Mangalore. The police also seized fake currency notes worth over Rs. 5.5 lakh from the duo. Officials from nationalized banks have confirmed that the notes are counterfeit.

The police, however, have refused to reveal more information, but sources in the police department have called the largest haul of counterfeit money in Mangalore so far. They also suspect that many other people are involved in this racket.
