Mangalore: Aug 7 , 2012:Members of DK Unit of Karnataka State computer teacher association (KSCTA), staged a protest in front of DC’s office on Monday, August 6, over the inconsistency of salary payments. Association Honorary President Sunil Kumar Bajal said that around 2,500 teachers did not get salary of Rs.3,332/- for the last 4 months. This amounts to Rs.83,30,000/- outstanding. KSCTA president Asha demanded a hike in salary to Rs.10,000 against current Rs.3,332. Owing to hardships in non-payment of salary, facilities like Maternity leave, earned and casual leave and other social welfare programmes must be extended to give a job security she said. She was worried about the fate of the teachers as the agreement is likely to be concluded next year.
“Our appointment letter mentioned a salary of Rs.7, 845/- , but we get paid only Rs.3, 332.We don’t even know the status of our money deduction as we don’t get Salary Slips every month. We will stage an indefinite protest from September 11, if our problems are not solved. It’s high time we do something about it” said Asha.
 The CITU Karnataka State Secretary Vasanth Achar demanded that computer education be made compulsory in schools and colleges. If the protest continues then the teachers will gherao District in-charge minister C. T. Ravi, said Mr.Bajal.
