Shidlaghatta, Aug 6, 2012: The sudden governments decision to close or merge schools in the district with less than 10 students have received a lot of confrontation from the school teachers and parents. Teachers will be transferred to another school after a counseling process and arrangements will be made to transfer students in nearby schools. Confusion and tension prevailed amongst parents as to how they can afford the cost of private schools and also send their children to far away places. The government’s move of paying the extra transport expenses of relocated students was also not welcomed by the locals.
Residents of Tandramaradahalli have expressed concerns over the closure of their school. “Closing of schools is not a good idea. Farmers and people from lower middle class prefer to send their children to these schools as the fee was affordable. Decision to close down the school will surely affect students. Moreover it’s going to be tough for the children to commute to these schools everyday as these private schools are located far away from the villages” said Nanjangud a resident.
Eight government primary schools in the district face closure. Raghunathreddy, the Block Development Office, said that he is bound the obey the government ruling.
