Snehalaya gives life to yet another mentally ill person

Mangalore, Aug 8, 2012 : Snehalaya, a charitable institution for the mentally ill and destitute, rehabilitated Devidas Santhosh Patil (28), who was found on the streets in February 2012.

Son of Hira Bai and Santhosh Dayaram Patil, Santhosh was diagnosed with a mental illness when he failed his SSLC. His parents admitted to Mumbai Jalgavn, Duliya, where he was declared cured. Later, Santhosh declared himself mentally fit and refused to take medication.

But his mental condition deteriorated, and on Dec 30, 2010, he left home. He was not found although his parents lodged a missing person complaint at the local police station and published news of his disappearance on TV channels.

However, Snehalaya found him on Feb 1 this year and began treating him. When he recovered, he gave his address and Snehalaya contacted his family. Suhas Patel, his younger brother, and his brother-in-law came to visit him.

Snehalaya has rehabilitated a large number of mentally ill and destitute people.
