5 year old killed in a road accident: Manipal

Manipal, Aug 18, 2012: A car coming in the opposite direction of the road  hit a pillion rider who was on his way to drop his 5 year old daughter to school this morning.The impact of the accident was so severe that the girl Kavana, got seriously injured while falling to the ground. She succumbed to injuries on her way to the hospital.

The locals gathered in large numbers and held a huge protest in front of the Manipal police station insisting that the car driver must be immediately arrested.  MLA K Raghupathi Bhat and district SP Dr Boralingaiah arrived at the police station and met the protesters. They tried to pacify them. Parkala town was closed for a day as a mark of protest.

The deceased was the only daughter of Karunakar and Geeta Patil, residents of Herga Shetty Beettu.

She studied in Upper Kindergarten at BBM School in Parkala.

The car driver has been arrested.A case has been registered against him in Manipal police station.
