Teenager dies of drowning in Murudeshwar

Mangalore, Aug 22, 2012: A teenager died of drowning at Murudeshwar and another was saved from drowning by lifeguards at Panambur Beach Tourism Development Project (PBTDP) on August 21, Tuesday.

Teenager drowns

Mohammed Suhail (16) of Sagar, Shimoga had come on a picnic to Murudeshwar Beach with 12 friends. He drowned when he got into the sea for a swim. His body has not yet been found.

Lifeguards rescue young man

Ansar (21) of Mallur Badriyanagar in Neermarga was saved from drowning by the lifeguards of PBTDP. He had come with a group of friends and had ignored lifeguards’ warnings before getting into the sea.

Lifeguards, however, noticed that he was in trouble and immediately got him out of the water.

Lifeguards at Panambur say that they have saved a number of young people from a watery grave. A lifeguard commented that most of these young people go home and tell their families that they had never gone to the beach. So this time, they got a statement from Ansar and informed the local police.
