Mangalore Today News Network

Mangalore, Aug 23, 2012 : Addressing reporters on the sidelines of the farewell party organized in his honor on Wednesday, B. S. Balakrishna, outgoing PWD superintending engineer, said that the Public Works Department (PWD) of Mangalore will soon launch a full-fledged pavement management system (PMS). Software for this project is currently being developed, he added.

Listing initiatives launched during his term in office, Mr. Balakrishna said that no administrative work is pending thanks to regular monitoring of reports.

Stating that complaints regarding the quality of MRPL-supplied bitumen are baseless, he said that 60/70 grade bitumen is used for road work, and roads constructed with this bitumen have turned out to be good roads. The PWD had issued strict instructions to use only 60/70 grade bitumen and executive engineers were directed to check the invoices before accepting the bill.

He also said that the new Circuit House building will be completed by December this year.
