Construction worker dies in workplace accident

Mangalore, Aug 29, 2012 : A young construction worker died in a tragic workplace accident at Banglegudde in Karkala on August 28, Tuesday.

The deceased is Raghavendra Acharya (25), who was doing centering work on the second floor of the building when he fell down and died.

The police say that Acharya was rushed to a local hospital in a severely injured condition, after which he was immediately moved to Adarsh Hospital in Udupi, where he was declared dead on arrival.

Raghavendra’s brother Diwakar Acharya blamed the contractor and said that unsafe working conditions was responsible for Raghavendra’s death.
