Senior headmaster K. Vasantha Shetty receives Best Teacher Award

Udupi, Sep 7, 2012 : K. Vasantha Shetty, headmaster of Shri Vishnumurthy High School in Kudi in Udupi, received the National Best Teacher Award from Pranab Mukherjee, president of India, at Rashtrapathi Bhavan in New Delhi on September 5, 2012.

Kudi Vasantha Shetty, the founder headmaster of Shri Vishnumurthy High School Kudi, has been rendering his services to this school from 1980. Having served as a teacher for the past 32 years, he is one of the senior-most headmasters in Udupi.

Mr. Shetty got his BA degree from MGM College in Udupi and his B.Ed. degree from Dr. TMA Pai College of Education in Udupi and his MA in Kannada from Mysore University.

In his acceptance address, Mr. Shetty said that he is happy that his rural school has finally received recognition. Stating that he began his career as a headmaster, he said that he was greatly inspired by his father, who was also a teacher. He said that he followed his vision on how a school should be, adding that they give top priority to time management and discipline in his school.
