Senior Yakshagana artiste Madhoor Ganapathi Rao is no more

Kasargod, Sep 17, 2012: Senior Yakshagana artiste Madhoor Ganapathi Rao (89), resident of Madhoor Temple Locality, died in a private hospital in Mangalore on September 16, Sunday.

He had been a Yakshagana artiste for nearly 50 years and has achieved a number of honors from prestigious bodies such as the Karnataka Sangeeth Natak Academy and Kerala Sangeeth Natak Academy.

He has played roles in the Yakshagana troupes of Koodlu, Dharmasthala, Uppala Bhagawati, Kudroli, Mulki, and others.

He has left behind two daughters and three sons.
