Mangalore, Sep 18, 2012 : The Akhila Bharathiya Vidhyarthi Parishad (ABVP) organized a protest in front of AB Shetty Circle on September 17, Monday demanding that action must be taken against the doctors, whose negligence caused the death of II PUC student Deepika, a resident of Kotekar.
In his protest address, ABVP State Secretary Ramesh said that Deepika’s family has accused the doctors of medical negligence. The victim suffered a reaction when she was given an injection, but the doctors did not take it seriously, owing to which the doctors should be taken to task, he said.
The ABVP has demanded an investigation into the death of the teenager and ample compensation for her grieving family. They have also demanded that the license of the hospital in which she was admitted must be cancelled.
Deepika, a II PUC commerce student in St. Ann’s College, Mangalore, died early in the morning of Sunday in JS Hospital, Kotekar. She was admitted there because she complained of severe stomach pain and vomiting.
