Alva’s Nudisiri 2012 to be held on Nov 16 - 18

Mangalore, Sept 23, 2012: Dr. M. Mohan Alva, chairman of Alva’s Education Foundation, announced that the 9th Alva’s Nudisiri will be held from November 16 to November 18 at Vidyagiri in Moodubidri. Dr. K. S. Nisar Ahmed, the eminent writer, will preside over the literary meet, he added.

Making the above announcement at a press conference held on Saturday, Dr. Alva said that the 9th edition will be organized with more grandeur as the 10th Nudisiri will be organized next year.

Dr. U. R. Ananthamurthy, chancellor of Gulbarga Central University, will inaugurate the 3-day event, which will be organized on the theme “Kannada Manassu: Janapara Chaluvaligalu.” A grand procession will mark the beginning of the inaugural ceremony.

The Nudisiri will comprise three talks, four programs on story presentations, nine poetry recitals, three memorial lectures, and the Alva’s Nudisir Award ceremony, during which awards will be conferred on 10 achievers. Besides, top achievers will be felicitated and a cultural program will also be held.

Prof. G. Venkata Subbaiah, centenarian and lexicologist, will be felicitated during the inauguration program for his contributions to the Kannada lexicon.

Those interested can take part in the Nudisiri by sending a money order for Rs. 100 to the Working President, Alva’s Nudisiri. Food and accommodation will be provided and students will get free entry, said Dr. Alva.

Dr. Alva said that the 10th edition of the Nudisiri will be held grandly, adding that plans are being made to hold Alva’s Nudisiris units in different districts throughout the state to give publicity to Alva’s Nudisiri 2013. Dr. Alva said that these units have already been launched in places such as Mysore, Chikmagalur, Tumkur, Mangalore, Puttur, Bantwal, and others, adding that the Davanagere unit and the Dharward units will be launched on September 28 and September 30, respectively.
