Mangalore, Sept. 26, 2012: Kasturba Medical Hospital announced at a press conference held at Conference Hall in Jyothi on September 26, Wednesday that the hospital will organize its annual World Heart Day Run for the eighth time. Several activities will be conducted as part of this event.
The World Heart Federation has declared September 29 as the World Heart Day.
Deputy Medical Superintendent of KMC Hospital Dr. Anand Venugopal delivered the welcome address and spoke about the World Heart Day.
Revealing details, he said that the World Heart Day Run 2012 will be flagged off during an inauguration ceremony at 7:00 a.m. on September 30 at TMA Pai Convention Centre, adding that the valedictory ceremony will be held at KMC Hospital, Ambedkar Circle, at 8:45 a.m.
The rally will pass through MG Road, PVS Circle, Bunts Hostel Circle, before passing through KMC Hospital. Those who take part in this rally stand the chance of getting prizes such as Best Corporate Participation, Best Institute Participation, Best Placard, Best Slogan Shouting, and Youngest and Eldest Participant.
Prizes will be distributed among the winners of the drawing competition held on September 15 during the valedictory ceremony. Sunil Joshi and Subrahmanya K. M. will also be felicitated at the valedictory program at World Heart Day, KMC Hospital, Ambedkar Circle.
Famous Indian cricket player Sunil Joshi will take part in the World Heart Day Run. MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, Deputy Speaker of the State Legislative Assembly, MLA Krishna J. Palemar, and Mangalore Police Commissioner Manish Karbikar will be guests of honor on this occasion.
The torch bearer of the heart run will be Subrahmanya K. M., the national level walker, who has won more than 10 gold medals at the state and national levels.
On September 29, the hospital will organize a special awareness program, which will include a series of entertainment and educational activities for the benefit of the customers of City Centre Mall. Prizes and spot games will also be distributed among the winners.
Speaking on the occasion, senior interventional cardiologist at KMC Hospital Dr. Padmanabha Kamath said that the World Heart Day Heart Check Package 2012 was launched on the occasion of World Heart Day at a heavily discounted rate of Rs. 1600 (45 percent discount). Senior citizens can avail of this package for just Rs. 1300, he announced, adding that the package is available from September 1 to Oct 15, 2011. If patients are found to require angioplasty, angiogram, and CABG procedure, they can avail of these treatments at discounted rates.
