Mangalore, Oct 1, 2012 : The Youth Congress protested against the failure of the BJP-led state government to provide sufficient electricity in front of the Pandeshwar office of MESCOM on Oct 1, Monday.
In his address, KPCC Secretary Ivan D’Souza said that the BJP has plunged the entire state in darkness in spite of the fact that it had promised free electricity to farmers. Frequent power cuts are creating endless problems for small industries, women, industrialists, and students, he added.
Mithun Rai, president of the Youth Congress, said that the government has not given any facilities to the poor, as it had promised. He also demanded that Energy Minister Shobha Karandlaje must resign from her post.
He also announced that the party will protest in front of over 400 Mescom offices in Karnataka.
Congress leaders Praveenchandra Alva, Nagendra, Tejaswi Raj, Arun Coelho, and others were also present.
