Miscreants shoot at Mumbai-based hotelier

Mumbai, Oct 4, 2012 : B. R. Shetty, the owner of a chain of bars, hotels, and restaurants, was shot at by a couple of men on a bike in Andheri (west) on the night of Wednesday when he was driving back to his house in Malad. Mr. Shetty hails from Olakadu in Udupi.

Mr. Shetty runs Krishna Bar and Club Escape in Andheri and Kancha Bar and Restaurant in Gorgaon. He is also the owner of several hotels in Malaysia and Goa.

Though wounded in his right shoulder, he drove all the way to Oshiwara Police Station, after which he was rushed to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital. He is now on the road to recovery.

The police feel that business rivalry might be at the root of this attack on Mr. Shetty. They have interrogated some eyewitnesses and, on the basis of the information received, they have prepared sketches of the two men who fired three rounds at Mr. Shetty before fleeing on their bikes.

The Amboli police, who are currently investigating the case, say that the police haven’t identified any suspects as yet.
