Mangalore Today News Network

Mangalore, Oct 5, 2012: The people of Shanthinagar I Cross protested against the bad roads and open drains in their locality on Oct 5, Friday. They were especially miffed by the fact that the authorities had turned a deaf ear to their pleas.

A resident complained that the road has not been tarred for the past 6 years, adding that corporator Appi turned them away by asking them to apply to the Mangalore City Corporation (MCC).

The drains in this area are badly maintained and in urgent need of repair. As a result of the poor drainage facility, the wells in the vicinity are polluted, said another resident.

Among those taking part in the protest were Devi Prasad, Kevin D’Souza, Jossy Piador, Wisy, Melwin, Roch, Kumar, and others.
