The deceased are Sundari (40), wife of Anand Gowda, and her daughter Sandhya (15). According to the police, Anand Gowda discovered the two hanging from the ceiling of their house on Saturday.

Reportedly, Sundari was mentally ill. Sandhya was a student of IX Std. at Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara College in Ujire. 

Anand Gowda, who had gone to the field on the night of Friday, returned home on Saturday morning and saw that his wife and daughter had committed suicide.

The Belthangady police, who have registered a case, are currently investigating it.
