Puttur, October 13, 2012 :A group of miscreants assaulted a woman and her child at Koltige in Puttur. The victim alleged that the police have taken no action against the miscreants although she lodged a complaint.
The victim Chitraprabha Rai, wife of Chikkarama Kumar, and her three-and-a-half-year-old son Sankesh Kumar have been injured. Sankesh has also suffered a fracture owing to the assault. A property dispute is believed to be at the root of this incident.
According to the victim’s complaint, Ashok Kumar, son of Laxman Gowda, Anitha, Vaarijaakshi, and Venugopal Gowda assaulted her and threatened to destroy her family. They came to her house on Tuesday and threatened her. She said that she lodged a complaint with the Sampya Police, but they have not taken any action against the accused.
On Wednesday, the group came to her house again when her husband was away and assaulted her with a club. They even hurt her small son. As her elder son was in the neighbor’s house, he was saved.
The accused said that they had political influence and threatened that they would kill the entire family. Chitraprabha said that Ashok Kumar even stole her necklace.
Since the police took no action, Chikkarama Kumar called a press conference at Puttur Press Club with his injured son and urged the media to help him.
